# Above the Fold

In plain words

Above the fold is the portion of a webpage a visitor sees before scrolling, typically the hero section and primary call to action. Because it loads first, it carries the most weight for first impressions, bounce rate, and conversion rate. Search and AI crawlers also tend to weight above-the-fold content more heavily when determining what a page is about.

Example

A SaaS homepage shows the headline, one line on who it's for and a “Book a demo” button before any scroll. The logo wall and feature grid wait below.

    ## How Can I Improve My Website's Conversion Rate?

Start with your above-the-fold messaging, simplify your calls-to-action, and remove friction from forms — these three changes account for most conversion gains before anything else matters. After that, test one variable at a time: headline, CTA placement, form length. Use analytics and session recordings to see where visitors actually drop off instead of guessing. CRO is iterative — small, evidence-based changes compound over months.

    ## Why Isn't My Website Converting Visitors Into Customers?

Most non-converting websites have unclear messaging, weak or missing calls-to-action, or a mismatch between what visitors expect and what the page actually delivers. Traffic isn't the problem for most businesses — clarity is. If a visitor can't tell what you do, who it's for, and what to do next within seconds, they leave. Fixing this usually means rewriting above-the-fold messaging and simplifying the path to action, not redesigning the whole site.
