# Page Speed

In plain words

Page speed measures how quickly a webpage loads and becomes interactive for a visitor. It's both a direct ranking factor and a major driver of bounce rate and conversion rate, since even small delays measurably reduce the odds a visitor stays and converts.

Example

Switching hero images from PNG to AVIF and preloading the main font gets a page usable in about one second on a mid-range phone.

    ## How Fast Should My Website Load?

Aim for under 2.5 seconds for your largest content element to load (Largest Contentful Paint) — anything past 3 seconds starts costing you visitors and search rankings. Speed is both a ranking factor and a conversion factor — every extra second of load time measurably increases bounce rate. Heavy images, unoptimized code, and bloated third-party scripts are the usual culprits. A well-built site loads fast by default.

    ## Why Is My Website Not Ranking on Google?

Your website likely isn't ranking due to a combination of thin or irrelevant content, weak technical SEO, slow load speed, or a lack of quality backlinks pointing to your site. Run a technical audit first — broken links, missing metadata, and slow pages are common and fixable quickly. If technical health is solid, the issue is usually content: not enough pages targeting real search intent, or content too generic to compete with more specific pages.
